Monetta E.'s Story

Monetta E. is from Cincinnati, Ohio. Monetta E.'s schools include Hughes High School. After graduation I continued working at Sydney Printing company as a vari-typetist, my thanks to little Miss Harris. By the way we kept in touch until around 1968. I married my high school sweetheart Bill McCarthy in April of 1963, we had a large and beautiful wedding. Starting our life together in Sharonville in our very own little home. Bill was in our class but had to quit in order to go to work and help out his parents. His father was very ill with leukemia. Being an only child he had to work in order to support his parents. I have always admired him for that. I started working for the Cincinnati Milling Machine shortly after we were married. I did all of there forms for the company as well as a company new paper. Bill was apprentice at that time with the Cincinnati Enquirer. Our first son was born in 1965 and by 1972 we had welcomed 2 sons and 3 daughters. Here we are 52 years later this April and have been very blessed with general good health, a wonderful family of 15 grandchildren. Through the years we have been involved with scouts as well as 4-H. This March we will receive a 40 year reconnection in Columbus at the annual state 4-H volunteer luncheon of which we are very proud. We have always been active in our catholic faith and our community. During the years we have lived north of the city and presently we live west of the city, moving 3 times. I also worked for several years as a home party representative for Playhouse Toys. I was a manager with them for 6 years and we were so lucky to travel with the company to Hawaii 3 times, to Spain once. When Bill came out of his apprenticeship at the enquirer things really got interesting. He was in the composing room and working lots of nights. Becoming the shift foreman took him away from home with long hours. Of course in between I did so some office and retail sales wor...Expand for more
k. Sorry to say never had to chance to attend college, so that is why we were very determined that our children would. And I'm very proud that we have one business CEO son, a son who is a detective with the Hamilton Co. Sheriff's dept., a daughter that is a office manager, a daughter that is a pre-school teacher, and our youngest is a nurse. We also are very proud parents of one Japanese boy, that came to us as a exchange student. We ended up being foster parents of him and he is a PHD research scientist. Even with 5 children we were very fortunate to travel quite a bit as they were growing up. With the love of seeing our beautiful country when Bill retired from the Cincinnati Enquirer we bought our first RV so we could travel as much or as little we wanted. Traveling over the many highways between Cincy and California is so very rewarding. Seeing so much of the flat land, hills and valleys, mountains, rivers and oceans I find being retired and able to do the traveling we have is a blessing that I'm so happy to have. We both love good music like from the 50's & 60's as we would say, today's music "who can understand it"? I love touching base with old friends so I'm very happy to be working with a wonderful group of ladies from our class. We all got together back in 2010 at a reunion and started having lunch once a month with 5 other classmates. It has been so great spending time together in our golden years sharing memories from the good old days. Very proud of our committee that has planned 2 reunions and now are working on a 3rd. This July 18th, 2015. If I could change anything about my life, I would go to college and be in medicine. And if not that I would be a party planner as I love setting up great parties. Sure hope my story wasn't to long or boring. God Bless and thanks for listing. One of Monetta E.'s favorite quotes is:"Live Simply, Love Generously, Care Deeply, Speak Kindly, Leave the rest to God.".
